Grievance Redressal

The Grievance Redressal System plays a crucial role in making education more responsive, transparent, and effective in higher education institutions. The Global Institute of Technology and Management (GITM) ensures a well-structured grievance redressal mechanism that addresses the concerns of both students and staff, thereby promoting institutional transparency and maintaining harmony among its stakeholders.

To address various types of grievances effectively, GITM has constituted the following dedicated committees:

  • Internal Complaint Committee (ICC): Actively works to prevent and address any form of sexual harassment within the institution.
  • Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC): Ensures a ragging-free campus by preventing and addressing incidents of ragging.
  • SC/ST Committee: Looks after the welfare and grievances of SC/ST students and staff.
  • Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC): Handles general grievances related to academics, finance, infrastructure, and other facilities faced by students and staff.

These committees are committed to taking rational, impartial, and objective steps to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the institute while maintaining discipline and decorum on campus.

Roles of the Concerned Committees

  • Take proactive measures to sensitize staff and students on grievance-related issues.
  • Act as an inquiry authority on complaints received.
  • Ensure that victims and witnesses are protected from intimidation or discrimination as a result of filing a complaint.

Procedure to File a Grievance

  • Any student or staff member can file a complaint by:
    • Submitting a written application to the Chairperson of the respective committee, or
    • Using the online grievance redressal link available on the institutional website.
  • Anonymous complaints can be submitted through the complaint box placed in each department.
  • In case of harassment or discrimination, the complaint should clearly mention the nature of the incident, date, location, and the names of the individuals involved, along with any supporting evidence.

Procedure of Investigation

  • Upon receipt of the complaint, an immediate inquiry is initiated.
  • The GRC or relevant committee shall investigate the matter thoroughly within a period of one week, involving interviews with the complainant, witnesses, and others involved.
  • After the investigation, the committee will submit unanimous recommendations to the competent authority, ensuring alignment with the prescribed norms of the Government and the affiliating university.
